Second Grade

Second grade classes started learning to read pitches and rhythms in songs using more concrete symbols such as the music staff, rhythmic note values, pitch syllables, and dynamic markings. Every class included singing, with most classes including movement and listening activities.

Other concepts studied included:

Moving to the steady beat.
Pitch syllables do, re, mi, so , and la.
Recognizing up and down, high and low.
Eighth, quarter, and half notes.
Hearing and reading rhythms and pitches.

"Heigh-Ho"

"Go Around the Corn, Sally"

"Silver Moon Boat"

"Lone Star Trail"

"Pizza, Pizza, Daddy-O"

"Down, Down, Baby"

The Second Grade classes also rehearsed for their program,
