Rules in Music
Classes
Music
classes are different from other subjects in that experience usually
precedes learning. Therefore, there are times when behavioral
expectations may be slightly less strict than during other subjects.
However, classes must still have an environment conducive to
learning. Therefore, most of the time our music classes have the same
behavioral expectations as our other classes at Jim Allen. We have
three basic expectations of students:
- Be polite. (Talk only
when given permission to do so by raising your hand and waiting
for it to be given.)
- Be respectful. (Follow
directions when given and participate when asked to do so without
talking back, arguing, or refusing.)
- Keep hands and feet to
oneself. (NO touching, hitting, kicking, etc.)
When students have problems
following these simple expectations, several warnings are given to
students first. Then, the teacher is informed and citizenship marks
are given to the student. If the behavior continues after several
marks are given, there are times when the student is given a referral
to the office for further disciplinary procedures.
