We Haz Jazz
Presented by the 4th Grade (April 2008)
The auditorium was jammin' and jivin' as the Jim Allen fourth graders
presented "We Haz Jazz". Much research went into the history of
Jazz Music in America, tracing it's roots to the songs of slaves and
the emergence of Blues. Famous musicians portrayed included
Charlie Parker, Jimmy and Tommy Dorsey, Gene Krupa, Benny Goodman, Ma
Rainey, Louis Armstrong, Dizzy Gillespie, Billie Holiday, Count Basie,
Scott Joplin, Duke Ellington, Bessie Smith, Jelly Roll Martin, Joe
Oliver, Fats Waller, Lester Young, Cab Calloway, Ella Fitzgerald, Mary
Lou Williams and Thelonious Monk.
Thank you fourth grade teachers for taking the time to integrate
teaching history with through music. A special thanks to Langley
Williams and Greg Sexton for helping tremendously to put this
production together. Also, a special thanks to Ms. Puente for
helping so much with the decorations for the play!
Sorry I didn't get all the dances, but here's a sample:
